This blog is a clarification from a previous blog; What is Ignorance?
The point of clarification specifically is this: We might be confused into thinking that a person is either in wisdom or ignorance. A person can neither be in ignorance or in wisdom.
The above is the point of the blog. The rest is just a ramble that followed š
The person doesn't exist. It is always Consciousness fooling itself. The imagined person NEVER has anything to do with Ignorance. There is no such thing as an ignorant person anymore than there could be an enlightened person. Neither exists!!!!
Consciousness either fools itself, or it does not. No one awakens. Do I really understand this? If yes, who is reading the spiritual book?
It is this same understanding that leads to the understanding that there is never anyone to blame or take credit.
In other words, if I believe the world to be real, with someone to blame for the world's problems, then I am still dreaming. I strongly recommend spending your energy on awakening rather than trying to figure out who's to blame. Who's to blame? The answer is everyone and no one.
In my opinion, perhaps the most important concept that a true seeker needs to realize is that the substance of everything is Consciousness. In other words, 'everything is made of knowing'
This is why I like the Matrix movie metaphor. It effectively communicates that we can be fooled by our senses into believing that the world is real. The matrix world is an illusion because its reality is dependent on a computer program....without the character knowing it! Likewise, the waking state world is an illusion because it's reality is dependent on that which we call Consciousness....and we don't know it! It's the same.
What I am saying is the simple understanding that it is impossible to experience anything outside of Awareness/Consciousness.
Science can help us understand that this might be true. Science is saying that objects do not have their own independent existence. Science also seems to be saying that time does not exist at the molecular level. If objects don't exist, and if time doesn't exist, then what exactly am I?
As Jesus apparently said, "I am a movement and a rest". The moving part could be described are pure knowing or pure experiencing. These words communicate the nothingness of the imagined person. Understanding the relationship between Consciousness and objects of perception (especially bodily sensations) leads to this understanding (which is always experiential).
When this is fully understood the following really starts to make sense; There is no guru and there is no student. The guru appears when the student asks the question.
Perhaps the nothingness of the Scott character is best communicated by the following understanding: From the perspective of Consciousness, my death will have the same significance as the passing of a thought.
From the perspective of reality, (from the level of reality), it would be a lyrical challenge to put into words the meaninglessness of the event called Scott's death. That said, I respect the fact that it is a big deal at the relative level of time & space. I was happy and motivated to give my companion of 14 years (Rudy) an honorable burial...it felt right.
I should be so lucky š
