Waking up is a misnomer

As Francis explained in a conversation with a student, nothing ever wakes up.
The character in the night dream must dissolve before the waking state character appears. Therefore, the night-time character obviously never wakes up.
The waking state character is not around when the dream character was alive and not around when he disappears. Therefore, how can the waking state character wake-up if he was not around? The waking state character appears as an afterthought: "I just woke up"
The eternal witness of both characters, Awareness, never wakes up because it's always 'awake', always aware. Therefore, waking up is a misnomer. Thanks to Francis for pointing this out.
Understanding that the waking state character doesn't wake up is potentially a fantastic pathway that can lead to a liberating glimpse. It is also an opportunity to chip away at the matter model of reality that is core to our beliefs. The belief that matter is more real than Consciousness. The belief that matter is reality. It is deeply rooted.
And the concept of time adds an element of reality. We believe that we are temporarily existing at a brief point in time. Wouldn't it be nice if that were not true?
Time is part of the space-time virtual reality that we play in. They come together in the shape of a matrix or quantum field. In this context, matrix and quantum fields would be synonyms. So time is a powerful part of the illusion. Time is created with a simple thought 'I was born 57 years ago'.
It's not just that I am not the body, it's that the body disappears. The body is simply not there when I am dreaming or in deep sleep.
(But we obviously believe otherwise. We imagine a solid body lying on the bed the whole night. Even if we were to install a camera to record the body all night it would not be proof of anything since Quantum Mechanics has demonstrated that the mere act of recording an event with a camera changes the outcome of the experiment. It really is amazing evidence that our matter concept of reality is wrong, from my own non scientific POV. Even if I am wrong about the quantum experiment camera point, the image of the body is always appearing in Awareness regardless, so it's kind of a mute point, but it is an interesting thought experiment...Is it absolutely true that my body is always present when I am sleeping for 8 hours? Perhaps this is a Koan. The problem is not what we don't know, it's what we do know that may not be true)
But how can something disappear into nothing? It can't. If we look real close we see that the body is not something, and at the same time we understand that nothing is not nothing. There is never nothing. There is always something. There is always Being. As Parmenides succinctly said, Being is, non-Being is not.
That said, saying 'there isn't anything here' can be an effective way of communicating the truth.
One of the things that I love about the above pathway is being reminded that the mechanism for ignorance is just a thought, that is believed to be true.
In other words, the Scott character is on the same level of reality as a thought. Scott appears and his reality is created and reinforced with the many thoughts throughout the day, "I just woke up", "I'm late", "my body hurts" etc. Again, wow.
If we carefully discriminate the totality of our human experience, we can understand that there is never an actual body. It is the action figure in an amazing virtual reality. This is an amazing discovery. The world is full of potential things to discover; the life cycle of salmon or mathematics, as an example. However, this is the most amazing treasure for a person to discover while on earth. We will not find the answers to the most interesting questions on the moon or in space.
We just need to understand the question and answer it for ourselves once and for all. We can always check. When in doubt, I can always ask myself: "When I experience Consciousness, can I find any limitations or borders?" If you want proof, you will never get better evidence than this, in my opinion.
I am what the "I thought" is appearing in. Always.
I love this Kermit cartoon. Getting a glimpse is a lot like this. The human person is 100% a puppet, but we deeply believe otherwise. Most people do not want to know the truth in my opinion, and that is OK. If Kermit is a happy camper then I would not wish to tell him the truth.
Deeply understanding that Scott has never been the doer is a relief. I'm glad I took the red pill. Perhaps I just got tired of suffering. I can now blame everything on the guy with the invisible hand. He gets all the credit and all of the blame.
